Hello, it's about that time again...yep, an upgrade. Here's what I currently have:

AMD X2 3800 @ 2.45GHz
Gigabyte K8N SLi
2x1GB OCZ Gold PC4000
XFX nVidia 7600GT XT
Hiper Type-R 580w - I'll be keeping this PSU
3xMaxtor IDE HDD's
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1


THIS is what I'm thinking of getting:

HDD: Seagate ST3320620AS 320GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Cache OEM - (£49.38)
Heatsink/Fan: Scythe Ninja-Plus Rev B (£27.79) or Arctic Freezer 7 Pro (£11.75)

It's just as fast and it's far cheaper.
Use the saved money to get a Tuniq Tower to cool it.
You should also investigate a 2900 Pro graphics card. They're brand new but are seemingly performing quite well for their cost.

Thanks for the input guys, what motherboard would you recommend then? I'm also going to OC that Q6600 to at least 3GHz.

Thanks, this is my first Intel build so I'm not that familiar with the upgrade paths...will that board be compatible with the new Penryn chips?

yes as stated in the description its 45nm ready
