Comments On Console Games & Hardware's State

Splitting wouldn't work at all, it would ruin a lot of the good things we have to remove the small amount of bad things.

Personally I'd throw PC and Consoles back together :).
 
To be honest, the standard of CG@H has always been pretty low. Surely people remember the phase this forum went through where every second new thread was reporting a new piece PS3 "news" in order to bait Sony fans?

It's nice to see people care enough to do something about it though. Thanks for making the thread, nikebee, and thanks for all the hard work, Nokkon.

But that in turn makes it easier to moderate, rival fanboy posts would get deleted - although it does require greater moderator input.

I think the whole problem is, the forum (as a whole) doesn't have enough mods to police the whole site effectively. Consoles needs at least 2 mods active on it.

Also, it appears 24hour suspension don't work on here - how many times have you seen someone suspended, just to come back and do the same thing again :rolleyes:
Argumentative/Fanboy posts should be deleted or edited. Offending poster given a warning, once they accumliate 3 warnings they are banned. Harsh but fair :p

General Gaming (Games discussion that is on all platforms)
Games for Windows
Microsoft Gaming
Sony Gaming
Nintendo Gaming

Will never happen and I don't think there are enough discussion as it is to fill those sub forums up. The nintendo forum would be pretty much dead.

@NokkonWud - I don't think console gamers and pc gamers would get along very well in one forum. I'm all up for joining them together though. Would be interesting.
 
I tremble at the thought of PC and console together.


We really need more mods, is there any way we can suggest more or nominate someone or anything?

A Vote would mean nothing really unless orchestrated by the Admins for the members, else it's nothing more than a popularity contest.

The only way something could be done is for the Admins to choose.

Agreed, thats the way most (if not all) forums work. It can also be someone outside of the regular (section) userbase, as this cuts down on the agreeved saying they were picked on because of past history.
 
To be honest, I just tend try and avoid the main mass of crap that gets posted, There are the odd 1 or 2 people that grind on me, but both have already seen suspensions, So it's no secret they are what they are.

I just say my part, I do try and not be fanboyish in my approach, Mainly because it's a pointless standpoint.

I do admit I have a big wanting when it comes to PS3 to succeed, But only because 360 already has.

I would love nothing more than the PS3 to become the most powerful gaming platform in the world, Why? Not because of love for Sony, or of Love for the PS3. But because it would mean we'd see bigger, better and improved games.

Meh, I totally totally disagree with the splitting of the forums.

1 or 2 permanent presences in this part of the forum, and a few days taking off the gloves and no doubt this place would become much nicer. People are getting away with way too much.

1 small petty post X a million threads does start to become tiresome.
 
Splitting the forums is a waste of time, the trolls would still go into threads just to cause trouble. It would actually be a nightmare to keep clean, even more so than now.

Posts get RTM'd all the time, but the same users over and over again cause the main trouble, trolling around, adding nothing to a thread and simply posting to get a rise out of people. Nothing is ever done about them, but certain people should have been permabanned aeons ago.
 
a lot of people have said for many years that a dedicated Console Don has been needed, that said, as with GD this forum goes in peaks and troughs, we are in the midst of the school holidays, BUT in fairness to the kids, the problems usually stem from the same culprits.

We definitely need a console don, console games is one of the biggest forums on OCuK but also one of the scrappiest, GD has its own mods but Consoles don't.

Except the administration has no idea who is good for consoles and who isn't; remember none of the top brass ever really takes a look at this place.

Which is why we have the dons we have now.

I would expect that a selection of (relevant) names would be put forward to the Commissario's by current Underbosses or Dons however. So that the new selection was somebody whom had a passion for this area and gaming in general.
 
Id like to see pc and consoles joined, and get some of the regular sensible contributors to moderate them, it surely must be possible to just allow moderation for this part of the forum only.

Who you would get is another matter, after seeing the rubbish Nokkon has had in the last year as an underboss, you couldnt pay me to do the job, although im sure someone like Cheets would love a banstick and would wave it with gay abandon :P

It was on the forums I used to admin IIRC. Not 100% sure on this though, it's been about 4 years since I admined one :o
