I already have a Praetorian Case and NEC DVD Burner. I also have a Tagan 480W PSU could I get away with using this?

I'm not convinced I need the Samsung TFT either as my 5 year old Hitachi 17" TFT is still going strong but I like the idea of widescreen and lower response rate.

Is it worth going Vista at the same time or hang on for a bit?

Cheers

E6420 out very soon, this is the sweet spot imo. If it must be now however, looks good, but I'd get a Gigabyte S3 motherboard for that price point.

You might get away with using the 480w PSU (it should be powerful enough) but it probably isn't ATX 2.X compliant and PSUs do become less efficient over time.

If you are considering swapping the CPU for a cheaper one I'd certainly change the motherboard to one based on the 965P chipset or the Nforce 650 chipset. I'd possibly consider swapping anyway for either a Gigabyte DS3P (note the P on the end as it is an updated model) or an Asus P5N-E 650 SLi as they are both very good motherboards that overclock well.

Also might be worth considering an aftermarket cooler if you are going to overclock. :)

Is there a ETA on the E6420? sounds like I might want to hold on...not sure if I can thou ;)

Thanks I changed to the Nforce based mobo. The 480W is almost 3.5 years old and I don't think even has any PCI-E connectors so I think I'll go for the upgrade. 600W !! my carbon footprint is going to cause Mr Blair some sleepless nights :p
