I am building a desktop which will be used for simulations and as a media server.
I want to keep it running for long periods of time. E.g. 20+ hours a day. Or if I am running it that much would I be better off running it 24/7 with weekly or monthly shutdowns to remove dust?
Here is the spec at the moment:
Case: Corsair Carbide 300R
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77-D3H
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k
Cooler: Corsair Hydro H60
SSD: Crucial M4 256GB
HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 3TB
HDD2: Seagate Barracuda 500GB
Graphics Card: Sapphire HD7850
PSU: Undecided as of yet because I want one that will be able to last at least 2 years of long periods of use.
DVD: Samsung dvd-rw
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Looks great, though i don't think the H60 is a good idea, you'd be much better off with an air cooler. Many things can go wrong on a CLC where as air coolers just do there job..

As for PSU one of these would be perfect:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Seasonic S12II 620W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £64.98
1 x Seasonic S12II 520W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £59.99
1 x XFX Pro 550W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £54.98
Total : £192.55 (includes shipping : £10.50).

As you say a CLC would be a bad idea could you a recommend a decent air cooler that would keep the temps low and would i benefit from moving the front 140mm fan to the rear by the cpu and installing a pair of 120mm fans?

With the k2 and corsair vengeance lp, it would be advisable to fit the ram before installing the cooler when building the rig. Later on if you decide to add more of the same ram, you can get it fitted with the k2 installed, but you need to remove the front fan on the cooler to do so.

With this spec would I be able to use the onboard graphics and the graphics card to run two displays at the same time? I have an old VGA monitor I would perhaps like to use from time to time when creating CAD models and performing analysis

the one thing your H60 gives you is space ... im never going back to a massive brick in the center of my case, I have an H80i and its fantastic....

Yeah, if you really want to go CLC then id only go with either a H80(i), H100(i) or swiftech H220.
You might as well go with the Noctua NH-D14. Performs outstandingly for an air cooler. Make sure you check if your RAM sticks can fit though.
