Is it acceptable to have a page saying comming soon as a link from the main menu on your site?

I'm only putting the small amount of information at the top as I dont want to be bias with the question.

I think prefectly acceptable myself as long as the information will be there at some point.

thoughts?

Yes, but only if you fully detail what will be there, don't just give it a H1 with that black/yellow gif of the workman from 1995 :)

I'd also suggest allowing people to fill in their email address on the page so you can send them an email when that part of the site has gone live.

Also, "I'm only putting the small amount of information at the top as I dont want to be bias with the question." doesn't make much sense, unless you can give us some context about your site.

Well its an very specialized automation company, I've had a calibration page saying comming soon for a fair awhile now as I've been given no information.

But a co-worker thinks that its unproffessional and I should take the menu link out untill it has information which i agree with abit but this site its getting a complete makeover by myself and I would rather spend my time on the new site than the older site.

If it's been sat there saying 'Coming Soon' for quite some time, then yes, that is quite unprofessional.

A coming soon page should always indicate, at the very least, a rough time estimate for when the content will be in place, else why bother having the page in the first place?

Also make it look cool. I once saw an under construction that said something like

"Something awesome coming here soon" and had a really amazing background photograph. It did look good.
