Commodore going to start making high end PC's

They still exist as a company? i thought they died years ago?

Did someone buy the name then?

Escom... one of the first highstreet PC shops :) They started off selling IBM PC's then for some reason decided that the IBM PC and Windows were doomed and thus switched to exclusively selling Commodores... I think it's obvious what happened next :D

lol

actually now u mention it, it does ring a bell :)

i saw some *first* atari games second hand the other day in "lame-station". Was a combat game like tanks or something, was fromt he 70's. my brother saw it and thought it was for a old mobile phone....(hes 12)

Commodore Gaming appear unsure of how to sell the brand going by the website.

If it's a Microsoft Windows power system, then using retro appeal isn't going to backup it's modern game playing credentials.

Still wish them luck.

Escom..

If I remember correctly, didnt their TV adverts and instore literature contain some undercover detective trying to "track down the best prices" ?

The only other place selling Word Processors at the time on the high street was Tandy :)

Those were the days.

I can't wait for people to get these and to wonder what you type after 'load' :D
Haha, I can see it: the blue screen with white text saying "PRESS PLAY ON TAPE". Good times :) And it was RUN you had to type, unless the game ran automatically which most commercial software did :)

It's not the first time the commodore name has been on PC's. Escom (German company) used the name on a range of PC's and peripherals back in 1995/6, poor sales meant it died very quickly. I remember it being sold again and their were plans to release Commodore 64 products or something like that.

Not heard any more from the name until now. Commodore gaming - using a classic name to try and make sales. I smell 'Atari' all over again. :p

A couple of months ago there was rumors there were going to get into the mobile market, would make better sense! playing all those classic games on a mobile would be great
