Common Outlook 2007 startup issue.

Hey guys,

A friend has just asked me about a problem that he is currently having with Outlook. At first glance it looked to me like the usual, '.pst error' - use Scanpst.exe and its sorted, but that doesn't seem to work for this one...

Outlook still works, he's tried different test accounts, but his main account remains inaccessible.

Any ideas? If he can't get it sorted on his xp laptop, is there anyway you can export the .pst out to another machine? He's got a vista desktop that he also uses (different account) Outlook on.

thats not an issue in 2007 iirc..

if it was me id delete the mail profile (inc the PST) and recreate but youll lose the mail.

Thanks guys - just had an email back from my friend and the .pst file is exactly 2.56GB :eek:

Afaik, the laptop only has 1GB of ram - could that be causing the error? I don't know what sort of size page file he has setup. I'd imagine it's the default size of a fresh xp installation.

If he copied his .pst file over to his desktop, would that work? Please excuse my ignorance with Outlook - but I never use it
