Really enjoyed this halloween episode. Something felt different about it, but it was still pretty damn good. Even if season 4 won't be the same as the previous 3, I still think it can be very enjoyable.

I liked it. I just wish the characters weren't quite as one directionally quirky.

Britta was a really good character in season 1 but now it's just sort of cheap laughs. Troy was the jock in high school but now is just a big kid that has no clue about sex.

I still love the show. I just wish they hadn't pushed the characters all in a single direction.

Episode 3 was a marked improvement, and it was nice to see them use the short version of the intro again (don't think it's been seen for the past few seasons), but it still doesn't feel quite right, a lot of scenes just seem to have this awkwardness about them as if something is missing. Can't quite work out what it is exactly but I fear they probably won't get it back now.

The bit that is missing is the comedy :p

I don't know, its just not very funny any more and to a large point, the characters are just not good, Ahbed in the first 2 years was a normal guy who was a little quirky. He was into films, predicting their futures because he read human nature so well, he delivered a kid, he was friends, he got drunk with Jeff, he wasn't a god damned robot, and now, he is being written as a guy who has no ability to interact with others. Brita is only a therapist and Troy's ackward girlfriend, nothing else. Annie wants to be with Jeff, and thats really her entire character, Jeff is just an a-hole oh, and has daddy issues which they've not moved forward for 2+ years, Troy is Brita's ackward boyfriend and Ahbed's ackward friend, and nothing else, Shirley and Pierce aren't even part of the show anymore.

I don't know, its just lacking, every situation they get into is all about one of their characters main issues, haunted house, the years old Pierce feels like he's being cut out theme. last ep, Ahbed's a robot theme. Its entirely predictable now, they've become standard boring predictable characters.

I can't see it going back the other way as, from that interview, it seems like the guys who pushed the show into a simpler more boring show, are basically in charge. :(

I have to agree with pretty much all of that. I don't remember laughing once during episode 3. It is more like an episode of a daytime soap now.

Even the British guy in what scenes he had in season 1 have had more comedy lines than the whole of the cast in these 3 episodes so far.

Anyway, why did they show Chang at the end of episode 1 and then nothing more since. If they wait to the second half or even final episode of the season to bring him back, it will be ridiculous.

Sums it up very well.

Having watched the 1st 4 episodes of the new series I'm getting that sinking feeling that Chevy Chase was right to quit over the direction this is going with everyone becoming 1 dimensional and, TBH, boring. I'm still finding a few bits funny but I feel like I'm forcing myself to watch it rather than being "can't wait for the next episode" excited.

Well I've just watched episode 4 and it was mind numbingly awful, the only vaguely funny part was referencing the old episodes the rest was just absolutely dire.

I agree with the other posts, it's completely lost its way.
