Hi I recently got a letter from communityfibre saying they will be in my area soon(200Mbps-3Gig).
Am with Virgin media broadband, TV, phone service currently using their 200Mbps download with 20Mbps upload broadband service, my main issue is I am in an high utilization area which means
they can drop my speeds during peak times in evenings I think its around 6pm-11pm.

CommunityFibre claim free installation and set up and free router also, I can get 500Mbps/500Mbps with phone service basically free if I ditch vm bb + telephone service. Another thing to consider is I use Mulvad openvpn 24/7 via a router on all internet devices, no issue hitting full speeds but I am aware I can max out only 300-350Mbps max anyhow.

So a few things I am unclear on True Fibre broadband are:

1: Does True Fibre have any peak or non peak times or bottlenecking of speeds ?

2: Does 500Mbps upload make any difference if 2-3 users are say surfing in the house same time ie on youtube?

3: How reliable are these true Fibre services, do they go down often ?

4: Is it worth the upgrade overall ?

thanks for all the answers, it does feel like its worth going for it, free speed and all. Yes there is a cancellation period but I did check on reddit and some customers said when they tried to go through the cancellation period, they stalled and said I.T dep working on their issue and by then, time lapsed so they were told they now have to pay the exit fee of hundreds.

Might be a bit tricky to come out of it.

I was hoping Fibre doesn't have any of this utilization or capping or throttling issues, will try and PM some customers, not sure id like to take their sales team word on it.

Yes fully agree its illegal for them, I think they are being a bit sneaky and trying their best to stall exiting customers.

thanks, yeah I could use WireGuard, I still prefer Openvpn and having it run through my Asus router though. Its been quite a while though since I brushed up on WG and don't know if its stable, reliable or been audited and had any security or privacy issues resolved.
