Commuter sports bike...

Cheap! No Ducati's at the moment haha, too expensive. I need a bike, as I'm contracting now and might be going to London from Reading regularly. Thus, I want a bike again.

The cheaper the better, basically, anything close to £1k would be perfect! Doesn't have to be 1098S fast, just fun!

Surely you can't think much past a CBR600F3? bullet proof, cheap to run, reliable, 45mpg...

That would be my suggestion as well, for something leaning more towards "sports" than "commuter". They seem to stand up well to the miles for a 600 sports bike, and they are pretty comfortable as well.

A Yamaha Thundertpants might not be a bad choice either.

I'd go with a CBR600F for reliability, cheapness and the fact it doesn't have such and aggressive seating position.

£1000?! I missed that bit. I wouldn't bother looking that low tbh most would have already been commuted the hell out of.

+ 1 on the CBR600f.

Got an FY model (2000) with 23.4k on the clock and it never misses a beat and easy to ride.
