What gloves are you using? I've been using the DHB 'extreme' cycling gloves but they are frankly useless, and despite having 3 pairs of gloves on, my hands are freezing cold & numb by the time I get to work. I've been tempted to go the heated glove route.. only really serviced by the SealSkinz but reviews are mixed on those.

Appreciate your help

I've got some cheap lobster ones from Aldi I got a few years back, the best I've had for this weather! When it's slightly above freezing the deep winter Rapha gloves, but I just struggle in general, I need to get some of those wind cheater things as if they're out of the wind generally they're fine.

Maybe a bit late for the "first" Ice Age but hopefully in time for the next one, I've bene using Rapha deep winter gloves with their merino liner. Coldest I saw was -7, most of my riding was -3 to -5 and hands were fine. They're a bit on the bulky side but do a good job, I had been struggling in low single digit temps with other gloves in previous winters. It's not just the gloves though, I think I've been wrapping up better generally and keeping my core warm definitely helps my hands stay warm.

On the gloves front been using marmott mittens that I use for running/skiing too.

moreover did anyone else have problems with tyres during the freeze. ?
finished off some Michelin 4 Pro x25's endurance which delaminated - I think the rubber cracked and ice/cold in it didn't help
vittoria pro iii seems to have worn through to threads in some spots - changed it today.
Amazon have some good deals on the pro iv's ordered some today.

... and don't mention the bloody salt on the rear mech & chain.

Using Sportful Sotto Zero. Good for down to -5 windchill. Still not a problem down to -10 for me but can feel them cooling... Slowly. But my commute is <10 mins so not an issue.

If temperatures are towards +10 my hands get too hot in these. Even at 5-6 degrees with no windchill they're too warm. Also not very waterproof, they tend to get sodden quite quickly, but do dry fast. Sportful did a 'Fiandre' glove the same time I got these, was a few quid more so went with these. They would likely be more waterproof.

My other half (30 min commute) found them too hot when she borrowed them during the freeze before Christmas. She's went back to wearing her snowboarding gloves!
