Right decided to give this a try (as i want to get rid of ZoneAlarm), but only problem i seem to be having is getting Utorrent to work, now it worked fine in my ZoneAlarm (with green tick), but in this it stays on the yellow triange with the "!" in it indicating a prob with my firewall, anyone know how i can get it to work properly.

Another odd thing was, when i first ran it i was expecting the box appearing saying that Utorrent wants to access the net like you get in Za, and you can tick the yes and don't ask me again, but it never asked on this, all i got asked was for me internet explorer etc..., now i have gone into the component manager and added Utorrent there manually to see if that makes a difference, but no, still won't turn green, it seems to be uploading/downloading fine though.

I have got the port forwarded for it (Utorrent) in my NetGear router, as i had to forward it in that before it would give me the green tick when i put ZoneAlarm on.

Any ideas ?

Thanks. :)

Add it to your list of trusted programs within the firewall settings. :)

But to be fair I gave uTorrent a try and find it a lot more problematic than Azureus... keeps freezing my net connection, and i've set it up as per the reccommended guides. :confused:

Thanks, ive added it but its making no difference, its now on the red circle job saying i need to open up a port, but the ports open for it on my router, as if i use ZoneAlarm instead Utorrent works fine with the green tick. :confused:

Right i havn't opened the port in Comodo as i don't know how to do it, can you let me know how i do it please, ive gone back to ZoneAlarm at the moment until i can figure out to get it sorted in Comodo, and its green ticked working fine again in there, so its obviously Comodo thats blocking it, and because i aint opened the port through it as you say.

Thanks. :)

Yeah my ports open, i need to open it in Comodo, ive gone back to ZoneAlarm until i sort Comodo out.

Thanks.

EDIT: Just doe a google search and found out how to do it, so i shall give it another go tom when ive got more time as ive got get ready for work in a bit.

Found this guide a while ago if it helps plus remeber to do the last bit of guide or it won't work

Bittorent
A mini tuttorial of how to open ports for bittorent and similar p2p programs
Go at the "Network Monitor" panel and add the following rule

Rule for TCP/UDP protocol

Action = Allow
Protocol = TCP or UDP
Direction = In
Source IP = Any
Destination IP = your computer IP adress (or "Any" )
Source port = Any
Destination port = the port your bittorent program uses for the TCP/UDP connections

You must move the rules up, over the default rule "Block IP in". ( CPF "reads/applicates" the rules from the top to the bottom)

Yeah thats the weird thing, i seemed to be downloading/uploading fine to even though eventually the yellow triangle with the "!" marked turned into the red circle one, weird. :p

I'm still going back to Azureus though... utorrent really hasn't impressed me so far. :(

Why hasn't it impressed you? I've been using it for a few months, seems fine to me.

I've set it up as per the reccommended guides and it still causes my internet connection to freeze, requiring a reboot. A Google shows others are having this problem too. :(

Weird that as it works fine for me, i can download at 230k+ with a 20k upload and still browse the net etc.. fine with no probs at all, i switched to it from Azureus as that hogged my CPU all the time, was going upto about 60%+, which is no good when you want to game at the same time.

I can happily game with Utorrent though as it only uses about 2-4% if that. :)

Hmm hold press I just did some more jiggery pokery (resetting defaults then tweaking again) and it now seems fine... may keep it after all. :D

Where are you downloading from? If it's a private site I find this normal (though the ports are open) I think it's got to do with the passkey.

Are your speeds being affected?
