Hi

I've been using Comodo for years now, and am currently on v3.1 which has been running very well. Are there any significant improvements in v4? Are there any performance enhancements?

I'm open to suggestions if there's anything out there that's better, or if I should be sticking to v3.1.

I would just stick with the firewall in Windows 7, but I want control over every program that goes in & out.

Thanks,
Craig.

Been with V.3 myself for a while too, and have really no complaints at all. See no reason for a change myself unless they stop doing updates of course.

Just read that v3.5 introduced 'dramatic' performance improvements with a new network stack using the new Vista technology, so it's tempting to upgrade.

I just hope v4 isn't starting to fill up with crap.

I recently changed over to v4 having wondered whether I really needed to upgrade as I was happy with v3.

Took the plunge only to find v4 wouldn't install! Having properly removed v3 with CCleaner, it still wouldn't install until I downloaded a batch file from the Comodo forums which wiped out some files/registry keys which were left behind.

All working now though, although a bit frustrating that I have to re-allow permissions to all my applications.

Have you noticed any performance improvements or any difference in v4?

Haven't noticed any differences in particular.

Judging by the release notes, perhaps some differences and improvements with Defence+ and this new sandbox feature but I don't tend to run Defence+.

Yeah still running v3.x myself. Didn't upgrade to v4 because I didn't see any need to. Also noticed that the alerts for blocked IP's were not fully addressed yet.

I upgraded to v4 a few days ago cos it told me todo so, I never uninstalled v3 cos the install of v4 uninstalled v3 for me and I was able to import my block settings ect from v3. I havent noticed any diff from v3 tho.

Yeah, a lot of their changes are made to Defence+. Just wondering if I'm missing out on the networking improvements made when the new network stacks etc. were introduced in v3.8.

I got an update for my installed v3.1 yesterday. I wonder if they included those network improvements in v3 patches at some point.

i think v3 settings file messes up the optimizations made in v4 to the rules and stuff.

currently using v4.1 and had no popups at all.

Ive imported my settings from v3, so I shouldn't have any popups

I do like v4, been running it for a while, the latest update fixed a few things that the initial v4 had wrong. I only use simple block/allow rules for the firewall, and it works fine, but there is the option to do more advanced stuff if you want to.
I could import my old v3 settings if I had wanted to, but I decided not to. You do have to select the v3 settings manually if you want to use them, it won't select it automatically for you.
