We're currently on season 5 round 7 and assuming round 8 will be the last of the season...

Suggestion: When the winner of round 7 chooses the theme for round 8, the judges (for one round only) also chooses the theme for round 1 of Season 6 at the same time (or within a day or two).

When round 8 finishes we can crack straight on with round 1 of the new season.

The winner of round 8 should be announced about a week before the end of round 1 and as long as the winner chooses the theme within a week we can crack straight on with the next theme.

The photographers will have a round a month and the pressure will be off for the judges as they will have 3 weeks to judge a round as one is in progress.

It might sound bit long winded but it's actually pretty straight forward. Everyone's a winner ;)

Thoughts?

i see what you mean though, would keep the comps flowing continuously.

Heh ;)

I wanted to suggest this before the winner of this round was announced.

This is in no way having a go at the judges who do a fantastic job all in their own time (crawl, grovel...) but it might take the pressure off them a bit and keep the comp continually flowing :)
 
Sounds like a good idea to me, i must admit being impatient waiting for results. It seems to benefit us as we get to crack on with the next round and the judges (who do a wonderful job ;) ) can take more time and not be rushed to get results out.

win/win situation :D

Anyone else got an opinion? Judges? Some of the old timers (you know who you are)? ;)

If we are going to do it we should really agree it before the winner is announced.
 
I personally think its quite a good idea. At the moment the various delays with judging, announcing and choosing the theme means that we will never get 12 rounds in a season.

I certainly wouldn't mind having 3 weeks to judge a comp, it would certainly take the pressure off.

Obviously, we now need Rich's and Matt's opinion on this, but in principle I cant see anything wrong with it.

Hey Hey I hope you're not pointing that loaded comment at me sonny ;)

It does sound like a good idea and when I was one of the judges and had to collate the results etc it was actually a little stressful and the more time that I could have to do the job the better. We all have our lifes including judges
and time pressure from that alone can cause slips and cause the baying
entrants to keep *bumping* the thread along with wry comments ;)
Although as the season is coming to an end you may find that some of the
judges may want to stand down and join the masses again. We would need
to know if the current 3 judges want to stay on in the job too...

To be honest I was thinking of stepping down at the end of this season - I don't feel I can give the competition and the forums as much attention as I'd like. A lot has happened over the course of this year to occupy my time and I don't see it changing a whole lot next year.

I think I should resign the reins of announcer judge to Xolotl or Matt and we should get in a new judge who's much more of a regular than I am! :)

So will the judges give us the theme for round one of the new season in the next couple of days please? Unless anyone strongly objects? Winner of last round to be annouced a week before the end of round one? Cool?
