Comp TIA A+ ?

No.

I the hardware computing design and maintaince or something.

Was a bit rubbish to be honest. Scratched the basics of outdated technology.

For free? Yeah.

I wouldn't pay anything for it.

I thought you had A+/Network+ etc? Never really reated A+ etc, thought the HP/Compaq courses taught a lot more up to date techs on their courses. What they putting you through at your place nowadays?

Nothing is outdated in comptia A+.
What you have to relise is its computer maintenance.
You need to know old aswell as new tech.
Not everyone has brand new tech/computers every few months.

Well if he does he's in the best position to know whether it's worth the cash or not :)

I'm tempted to just pay to take the exams to add it to my cv, although I read through a friends books whilst at work the other day and can't see how you'd fill a whole week with this stuff. Also he said, after doing the exams, that with all the stuff we do at work there's no point going on the course just take the exam as it's all easy enough stuff, albeit outdated.

All the courses for comptia A+ cover what the providers think you might need to pass the exams. Just by looking at the objectives comptia set for it.

You must've been looking the other way while me and Perksy were taking everyone apart :p

I'm doing the A+ (done hardware friday & have the OS one next friday). I think it's probably only worth doing if you're trying to get into IT as all it really covers is the basic stuff.

its worth doing especially as it's free, at the end of the day it all looks good on the cv. Even my CCNA isnt up to date it doesn't even mention DDR.

MW

just finished my Practitioner Certificate in Software Testing from ISEB. real easy. and it was free from the company. Next up is MSTS

Nice, which part, foundation, practitioner or manager?

I just picked up my Red Badge a few months ago. Talk about hard work, not written like that since school. 2 exams where i managed 50-60 sides of hand-written A4 in 3hrs for each exam. Missed a distinction by 1 mark!

Next up for me is Business Continuity. Just looking into what courses/quals are available.

Just done an internal fundamentals course, its green badge next but red badge is in my objectives to do soonish. Not relishing the prospect of those exams.
