Comp wont turn on :(

Hi folks,

I changed my case today, went from a Thermaltake Armor to an Antec 900.

Anyway!

All installed OK, BUT the darn thing wont turn on!

There is power to the mainboard, as the green LED on the board lights up.

But the thing wont turn on! I've tried changing the case power connector other way round etc still no joy.

I've noticed I dont have a PWR LED cable...Which seems strange?

I have

PWR SW
RESET SW
HD LED

IF I didnt have the LED cable im sure it would still turn on wouldnt it???

Any ideas whats wrong?

I've checked all power connectors on the board, all seems ok

just puttin a screwdriver on them so its touching both pins yea? Tried that didnt work

I ground myself yea I guess the only way is to take it out the case and try it and see if that works.

Surely if it was shorting, the green LED on the motherboard would not light up...?

OK...

I took the board out and placed it on a wooden floor.

I connected nothing except for

24 Pin power connector
4 Pin CPU power connector.

It wont turn on?

Just that green LED light on the board itself.

Surely I dont need to plug more stuff in, as I just need to see if it turns on not boots up.

The option I have is to test the PSU by borrowing one from the pc in the other room. I'll have to try that first.

The PSU was brand new though before today...

I did snap the retainer clip from the pci express slot earlier when removing the gfx card but that shouldnt affect anything as its just a plastic clip.

Do you think I could RMA it to ASUS (or e-tailer I bought it from) or would the broken clip void the warranty?

I was thinking to just buy another board, and RMA the ASUS, when it gets back sell it on as I wont want all the palava of installing everything again.

Update...

I tried a different PSU...Voila it turned on straightaway

Although it did spark from where I shorted the PWR connectors on the board and smelt like a spark! Is that supposed to happen!?

Anyway, so it looks like the PSU is faulty, how unlucky, it was brand new and sealed as well!
