Does anyone know of a good AV receiver that is less than W40cm D40cm

Ideally needs HDMI inputs. Budget is around £300 Wouldn't mind an all in one box system ideally but can always convert my passive sub to active.

totally left field suggestion - Onkyo used to do a system that had the AV receiver built into the sub, HTX-22HDX or something like that, my parents have one. It's a 5.1 system and has 3 HDMI in and 1 out and the speakers can be changed, you would just need to use the main box sub thing. It's the only thing I can think of that's small and can be used as as AC receiver. Still better than the all in one boxes though.

I had the same problem, so changed the cabinet rather than the amp. But how well would an amp survive standing on its side like the playstation?

I 'think' 435 is the standard width of all hi fi / av equipment - i know a lot of people have problems with receivers being deep as there is no standard, but would it not make sense to have a unit that could take standard sized equipment?

This might sound like a stupid question, but just why are the units so big? Is there really that much stuff inside them? I can understand 20 years ago them being the side they were, but surely technology has moved to the point that the circuitry/electronics can be made smaller.

I was shocked at just how big my Yamaha RXV-679 was when I put it in my cabinet, my dads Onkyo was even bigger!

Probably the amount of heat they produce is the reason they would give, I'd guess, at least for the width is due to it being the industry standard.
