Compact Camera <£250

Morning,

After a decent compact camera for an upcoming holiday. It will mostly be used for scenery and landscape pictures. Not really after a M4/3 or similar as would like something fairly small.

Budget is around £250. Been looking at the RX100 mk1 as this dropped to £240 briefly but its back up again now.

Any other suggestions?

Wait for the RX100 to come down. Can't believe these are still at this price. I bought mine two years ago for £250!

I know! They have held their value so well.

Would I know notice much of a difference between the RX100 and something like this?

I'm guessing you are paying for the zoom and swivel screen over image quality.

Manual focus, wider aperture, larger sensor, higher res screen, RAW, bulb shutter, focus peaking, lighter.

It's a huge difference. The only real negative would be the lack of inbuilt WiFi that the mk2 addressed in comparison.

I already have a Lumix DMC G3, may just take that instead! Just fancied something a little smaller.

If you're willing to go second hand, Ffordes have a Sony RX100 with grip for £249. Described as Almost like new (their condition descriptions are usually spot on)

Just put the Panny 20mm f1.7 on there, on of the best lenses I've ever touched.

Do you have any experience with the 25mm f1.7? Seems to be a fair bit cheaper and has decent reviews.

No I don't but the eqv focal length of 50mm would make it not as flexible for me personally as prefer to be at 35mm or as close as I can get to it for most of the time. Not to say there is anything wrong with the 25mm of course.

20mm for £159 below as well if you are torn between the 2.
