Hi there, I'm buying a compact digital camera for Christmas for around the £150-£180 price range and I really, really cant decide between these 2:

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX3 - 2.5" screen, 6megapixels, mega ois (image stabilization), and a leica lens (supposedly)

and

Canon Digital Ixus 65 - 3" screen, 6 megapixels, looks really good and with neither of the cameras having a viewfinder the 3" screen is tempting..

anyway your thoughts would be much appreciated :D

thanks

Adam.

Canon or Panasonic? What are you thinking? Why not go for the Casio EX-Z700?

Just kidding, both of those are good cameras with excellent image quality, I doubt you'd be disappointed with either.

If you are going to take photos in low-light conditions (where camera shake has more of a noticeable effect due to longer exposure), the image stabilisation could be very useful, though...

I got the Canon Ixus 60 and was amazed at what a nice little camera it is for the price (also has a view finder which I was glad about). Good quality of pictures and you can pick it up for around the £160 mark now I think.

its funny you should say about the casio that was actually my 3rd choice but I had kind of rejected it due to it not offering anything over the other 2, as you said the image stabilization of the Panasonic does make it desirable. but 1/2" less screen size not so, damn choices :(
