Which would you say is best for an all round camera?

Main priorities are:
- easy to use (for travelling)
- fairly cheap (<£250)
- good quality images (not that bothered about extra features like GPS/Wifi)
- high quality 1080p video mode

I have done a bit of research and narrowed it down to the following:

Sony HX20v - (£180)
Panasonic TZ35 (£180) / TZ40 (£250)

Or

Panasonic GF5 (with 14-42 X lens) - £230
Used Sony NEX-3 - £??
Nikon J1/J2 - not looked at these much but seem to start from £200-250

The main thought process was a Panasonic TZ40 (currently have an old Panasonic Lumix bog standard cam), then found the TZ35 and HX20V were cheaper and just as good. Also like the look of the video quality on the Sony.

Then I looked into the newer mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses which seem to be good value for money (older models anyway), however there are the usual advantages/disadvantages to new technologies which users have highlighted.
Also what is the zoom like on a 14-42 lens - is this the equivalent of a 3x zoom?

So which would you recommend for someone as an amateur not wanting to mess about too much (but willing to learn a bit) in order to get good quality pictures? Are there any other models that I should be looking at (not bothered if they are slightly older).

I have read reviews on most of these and I am leading towards the Panasonic GF5 at the moment (just as it is so cheap) - however I have not managed ot physically check one out in store.

Any thoughts welcome!

Thanks

I wanted a high quality compact that took great images, but was still small enough to fit in a jacket pocket or trouser pockets at a push. I ended up with an Olympus EMP2 and love the image quality and size. Build is a little plasticy an a few extra buttons would be nice but I can do with what is available. Image quality if as good as the Canon crop DSLR but the whole thing including lens is around 390grams.
