Company Of Heroes - arg!?!

US, Wehr, Brits, Panzer Elite = 4 separate armies 2 allied 2 axis

my biggest gripe with this game is that its too arcadey, Relic going for Balance as opposed to realism

so u get damage multipliers, weapon resistance from and too different armies.

for example, Wehr gets a 0.7 accuracy against UK but only 0.4 vs US for example...like why?! a stationary yankee is just as good a target as a stationary brit...?

Marder 3?! out gunning a king tiger?>!

so they balance the armoury to give AT tanks with added punch, why?!!
 
CoH is both slow and fast paced at the same time... its all about cover and zones of fire which can be slow (specially the wehr who rely on their mg's to hold off the superior allied infantry) but at the same time is very heavy on the micro making it fast paced

Its a lot deeper and more involved than most other rts games so probably wont give you the quick fix that a game of cnc3 could give you... but is a million times better when you properly get into the game

Of course they change the game for balance nickg, what would be the point in playing the game if the axis brought out one KT and killed every allied unit on the entire map? Actually scratch that as that quite often happens, but thats the point, you push realism as far as it can go without messing up the fun of the game

there are no realistic rts games nor will there ever be as they just wouldn't be fun, war isn't fun its brutal carnage with no winners only loosers

As for the OF armies when OF first came out they were extremely overpowered to the point where the the US and Wehr were not worth playing... but they have slowly fixed this, the beta is indeed quite nice to play, and hopefully in a week or so when that finishes the game will be patched with version 2.4 and everything will be peachy, with team automatch finally coming out!

Ah yes, two different German regiments, I just considered them one army :p

King Tigers are still absolute buggers when you see them though, it's often brown trousers time for me as they're still tough as hell.
 
As long as your prepared the big tanks shouldn't be a problem... at gun to the front with ap rounds... a tank and some at inf from behind.... and they drop easy enough... its when ** only just clinging on to the game and they get their uber tank for next to no money that ** boned
 
Yeah you need several engineers with the anti-tank weapon, or any units with the panzershrek. I find the tommy side harder, not as powerful tanks and need to upgrade units to get thompson/anti-tank (germany has own buildings which build them) Also with germany can build several infantry squads at a time (solders + panzershreks)

no realistic RTS;

Play Close Combat - okay not everones cup of tea but tanks can die when they take a single hit, as opposed to having a health bar etc which is a tad unrealistic!

but yea COH is a fun game for sure.
 
I'm really getting into OF now :)

Seems ok once you get into it, the german army seem pretty good and also aggressive (and a lot faster than the americans :confused:).

My mortar trucks keep getting taken out quickly tho :( they seem really weak.
 
your motar trucks should never be within firing range of the enemy soldiers, i.e the mortar has a much large range, park it out of the way, behind the front line preferably behind cover and just bombard the area where enemy sits.

if the enemy attacks it run it away, or support it damn well otherwise it will die quickly
 
A bunch of Pg's with g43's with maybe a infantry halftrack to reinforce from all guarding the mortar halftrack is a very hard combo to beat

the yanks do have problems with this currently relying on rangers to pwn face
 
imo with Wehr go Terror and fastrack to the Reserve Grenediers, the ones that can go camoflauge, hook up 2 shreks, repeat. run into enemy base, stand behind objective, uncloak. BANG BANG BANG

plus u get a Tiger tank at the end of it:)

Thats is a very confused sentence... by grenadiers that can cloak i would think you mean stormtroopers, which are in the blitz doctrine not terror

a better tactic would be the halftrack rush... a halftrack with 2 squads of grenadiers with shreks.. have the ht start to upgrade its flamers drive into the base, unload and then blow up his base reinforcing from the ht that is also flaming any inf that try and kill your grenadiers
 
lol yea im not so good with the technical designation but you know the score.

problem with HT is that Rangers tend to annihilate them v quickly. but i will try it later:)
 
rangers come at 3 points.. you can get to tier 2 before they get those.... even if your ht explodes the main point of it is to get past the mg defenses... the flames of tier3 are nice if you can afford it at the time
