Hi all.

After a long break from playing COH and never really playing much MP, ive come back to it and played through most of the COH game and expansions. I now want to get into the MP but i seem unable to win vs germans. I seem to get overwhelmed in no time and my men(airbourne) seem to get slaughtered in seconds and i cannot seem to replenish them quick enough or get enough resources to replace them.

Does anyone know of some good starting tactics, what/when to build, in what order for example?

er... thanks for that.

Sometimes you have to drive the Jerries off the more important cp's or your base and end up in a straight fight.

I seem to get off to an ok start and get 2 engis(1 capping while 1 is building)>1 barracks>3 squads built(they start capping as soon as they are produced), but still seem to get hammered in a fight. Perhaps im to slow getting vehicles? US troops feel so ineffective, at least in my hands :)

heres what i do:
1 eng goes capping (send it on paths to go for the fuel points), 1 eng builds a barracks on the edge of your control zone and then goes capping. Build 1 rifleman squad then 1 jeep, the jeep is really important to spot for distant mgs, and to push the volks out of cover and generally rape em. After that, build more riflemen squads. If the german player bunkers down (1 bunker or tonnes of mgs in buildings), get a WS and then supply yard, if he doesn't, get grenades and then supply yard.

Don't build airborne unless you need to take down a bunker- otherwise early game they aren't that useful. After supply yard, if you've got all the fuel, go straight to tank depot, if your losing, go motor pool.

Dependant on map, try rushing forwards to choke points or to blow bridges etc. I often do this where possible, although it may no be suitable if you are playing against another person

Also look out for key points that may not have much value, but if captured could cut off supply lines of your opponent. There are lots of maps where if you can sneak a single squad over to a couple CPs, capture them and suddenly all the fuel and munitions points your enemy has become useless to them, at least untill they divert units off to recap.

It's all about harassing. Force your enemy to have to use units to recap his points, this can also get him to try and spread his army to cover more areas, in which case you can try and force your way through.

Check out game replays forum and watch some of the vods and see how other players win: http://www.gamereplays.org/community/index.php?showforum=1209

Control of fuel is vital. Dist hit the nail on the head; watch replays if you want to improve tactics.

This is more like it, thanks for the advice chaps. Im slowly getting to grips with COH, practice in skirmish is helping and so is playing along side another player(2v2), i can see what he does and he can take the pressure off me, so i live longer :D.

Ive just played a great 2v2 game and won :D. ok, so my team mate did a lot of the work, but at least i was able to hold the line on my half of the map. We were also able to support each other when one of us was in trouble. They were all level 8 players too.

Whats up with the stats?, instead of going up to 3 total wins (1 online 2 skirmish) i went down a win? theonline game didnt register a win and i lost one of my skirmish wins, very odd.
