Right finally got round to completing Company of heroes single player campaign.

Is OF worth buying? Only interested in the single player campaigns
 
Yeps well worth buying/playing even though some people on these boards seem unimpressed by it.
You get to play from a german perspective as well as the british :)
 
Def worth it for the British :) really enjoyed the 2 campaigns, and some of the british units voices during missions are great fun. I get a bit of a slow down with OF over the original but not sure how other people find it.
 
Can thoroughly recommend Opposing Fronts, I think I actually enjoyed it more than vanilla COH - more tactical play I think, and somewhat more of a substantial difference between the armies, rather than the somewhat similar American vs German.

Love the ability of being able to repair any vehicle with PzGrenadiers, rather than traipsing engineers around all the time who are naff all use in combat most of the time!

And Koenigstigers in Arnhem.... mmmmmmm big metal :p
 
Another "Thumbs Up" for OF.

It's an absolute stonker of a game.

I honestly wondered why it took so long for me to buy it after it was released!!!

Brilliant little game.

i wish the campaigns were longer though (in the original too)
 
Yep, defo worth getting OF, British missions were great. CoH/OF is one of my fave rts games. Also wishing the campaigns were longer tho, really good quality. Love the skirmish as well.
 
Seems to be a bit of a concensus that the British missions are the best - I think personally i'm a bit against this trend.

Love the British layout, its been done well agaisnt the background of British WW2 forces, especially the trucks.... although I find the British infantry sorely lacking in Anti Tank capability, compared to other troops.

Also, though the British maps are nice... playing them through a second time in reverse or re-taking previous objectives gets a little boring.:rolleyes:

Why couldnt we have played some of the German maps in reverse, such as swarming the river and having the artillery support there to help??
Or taking Arnhem, blasting germans out of houses with rifle grenades and close quarter fighting? :D

I know the Brit campaign is set in Normandy, but original COH had its Sottevast mission.... OF could have had similar!

Anyone else reckon so? *goes off to hunt custom maps.....*
 
I'm not sure it's quite as high quality overall as vanilla COH, but still well worth it. Playing through the panzer elite missions just now and enjoying it massively, great game.

I was a bit miffed at the copy protection though, it gave me absolute fits installing- I got the game of the year edition or whatever it is as it was cheaper than the expansion, but I already had COH- but when I installed the expansion it insisted that my COH box code had already been used. Why, yes it has. By me. It took 4 emails to Relic before they fixed that, very irritating, the original wasn't saddled with this rubbish.

Hey they actually patched the game on the day of the goy release.. it was because of u!! :D

As for the brits lacking at inf punch... its all about the sappers with their piats... they are suprisingly very good against light armour.. and even medium tanks... you just need to make sure they aren't taking damage as they are very weak... to do this button any targets with a bren gun
 
ive started playing OF and coh again as i havent really gotten round to completing the whole game on sp.

i thought mp was great on coh until relic brought in those stupid menus and everything which are frustrating and annoying imo.
