yet another edit: 9100 made no odds for me :( and i should have said that if you don't have much joy, do a search here for 'company of heroes' and you'll find some other threads that contain links to connection problem fixes.

I always do the 2 ports and the DMZ and normally have no problems

i'm having huge connection problems with CoH aswell over LAN though, i also use a netgear router but its way out of the equation as the router connects to a switch and all computers to the switch. anyway sometimes can't see lan games, and if i can it has a red ping and can't connect anyway. says "Can't connect to all the players!" i have turned off firewalls etc. could the netgear still be causing problems?

any help would be apprieciated

a switch 'should not' have any problems, the routers NAT or the pc's firewall/AV are the usual cause's of such issues..

some fixes that worked for some folk..

i dare say their netcode/NAT method needs looking at.. too many people are having problems with this and i'm not going to blame my router because this is the first game thats not connected/hosted the 1st time (i'm even able host battlecom!!). i can log in everytime but i've only seen the relic in-game news twice, the server list once, out of perhaps 100 or so attempts.

it's a crying shame :(

I cant speak explicitly for the netgear router ( have belkin) but i had to set port 9100 in comodo firewall to allow before the game would work over the lan and virtual lan via hamachi. Ive since set the firewll to allow all ports (i just set to allow/deny app as required) to avoid such issues in future.

If your in the dmz you are completely open to the internet as if you were connected directly with the modem. no firewall or nat in the way. so unless you have a software firewall running, your completely exposed.

Aye, we had to do that two years ago for any internet/lan gaming.....but that was with an oooooollldddd netgear router/modem/switch.

Yeah LAN here with Hamachi.

Hamachi seems to solve a lot of the problems that Relic Online has. For example, when I play over RO with my gf on the same LAN it is impossible to connect to a couple of our clanmates. But when we log out of RO, fire up Hamachi and then connect via LAN - its all good.

The RO net code is borked and need patching. Some say it will happen in the next patch, others think resolution of these issues are months away.

I had LOADS of problems with my Netgear router. It's as if my Netgear router just ignored any port forwarding or triggering that I tried. In the end I downloaded a software port-forwarder and the game runs fine in MP. 30-day trial for it, but I went from not being able to get into the lobby to being able to play without any problems at all.

I can find out the name when I get home, if you want?

i shouldn't have to forward ports if i want to play on lan should i? I just made sure the app was allowd by firewall (tried with it off aswell) no AV. I have a netgear router but the computers are connect via a giga switch, so it shouldn't have any say in the matter.
