Company of heroes resolution problem

I have COH and both the expansions to it on steam and have a weird resolution issue where I set it at my native res of 1920x1080 in the game and the text shimmers slightly, looking like its on a very low refresh rate. My monitor reports it at 1080i mode so guessing 30hz? How the hell do I stop it doing that? Also, the game usually starts windowed and when I enter a game, the sides and top of the screen aren't displayed due to being cropped out of the screen range.

Something is definitely wrong with the resolution settings but I've tried reinstalling it and verifying the cache to no end. Also tried changing the res to a lower one and back again, which also didn't work.

Ideas?
 
Have you tried any other games at 1080p resolution? I had a similar issue it turned out to be the lcd needed a custom refresh rate setting as 1080/60 in the drivers. Not sure if it was because i was using hdmi connection but that allowed me to play in 1080p...
 
hello, this happened on my friends machine with CoH, the solution I found was to use dx9 render path instead of dx10, try that and let me know.

edit: to do this bring the shaders setting down one notch from ultra (to high I think)
