Any ideas peeps?

I've reinstalled the game and spent ages downloading all the updates, inc. the massive DX10 update which was like 1.8Gb.

I've patched the game to version 2.103 but when I launch the game I'm presented with a new screen saying I need to login? So I thought, ok, and created an account to which it says there is an update required to play online. Even though I don't want to play online. lol

So I thought I may as well download it, and it says OK and I have to restart. But when the game exits it just sits in Window. If I restart the game it says I have to download the patch again. I click OK and it's already downloaded.

What's going on?!?!?!?

If i remember correctly there was a patch that didn't run by its self. Go to My Documents -> My Games -> Company of Heroes -> Patch (in XP), find the newest update in there and run it yourself. Hopefully that will work :)

COH's patching's terrible, lots of sequential patches rather than one consolidated one. The auto-updater's unreliable too- I was using the original version, then got the GOTY version for Opposing fronts (as it was cheaper than buying the expansion seperately). Installed Op Fronts with the original COH install, and the autoupdater grabbed the patch for the GOTY version, which broke the install  And we're not talking small patches here. While I was doing this, a mate was doing the same with his GOTY set (we were trying to play online) and in his case it grabbed a foreign language patch, which also broke the install.

Superb game, but the patching/updating's just not good enough. They also have issues with their key registration- when I installed op fronts I was challenged for the game key for the original game, which I entered. "This key is already in use". Yes, BY ME! On this machine!

The fact that it lacks a "don't patch" option is pathetic- you can bypass it by disconnecting the network cable, so why not give it as an option that isn't a total pain in the posterior?
