Company of heros bundled with Asus 8800GT

Trying to get this POS game to work, I've installed it and there's no icon on the desktop but no worries I go into programmes and launch from there, it then insists on a download patch before I can do anything after 7 hours of downloading just over 100MB file installed and now it's needing another download 114MB this time.

Is this the way it is or am I missing something? Wouldn't it be great on dial up:mad:

Any help would be appreciated:)

Oh dear looks like it's going in the bin then, sad they bundle something that brings unhappiness, one thing I'm glad about at least I didn't buy the card for the game.

dont give uip i got CoH OF with my Asus 8800GT and its a great game actually. it aint a ww2 sim, but its a decent game online

but yes massive patches, but the patches are for the good of the game. persevere!

So eventually I should be able to play it with the patches? Maybe I did something wrong installing but when installed it wouldn't let me go past the first download, when I installed that it immediately wanted another 138MB patch which I haven't managed to download yet, when that's done will I be able to play or will it want even more?

I just want to play at home on my own PC I just ain't into it enough to go online.

Thanks for all the replies, because of your help I'm not giving up:)

7hrs for a 100Mb file?!

That's just under 4kb/s. Even 56k dial-up should offer up to 7kb/s, so yeah - there must be some problem with your connection. Getting less than dial-up speeds shouldn't be the way.

But yes - internet content delivery, whether for patches or even full games, seems very popular these days, and unfortunately 100Mb+ for a patch is commonplace.

Hi I'm on 2 Meg broadband but their server was painfully slow would do say
1 mb in about 3 mins then say lost connection so I had to reconnect every
1-3mb through the whole download, but when the link from above was given I managed the 130mb in about 15mins or so, I went for a drink it was done when I came back.

But now the dammed thing has crashed I can't remove it from add remove programmes or through it's own install programme, when I start my PC now it does error checking every time something has messed up I think.
