So just after Christmas i order a £250 gtx 1060 6gb from a online site *not going to name* and the image of the product on the site was a reference design with a blower style cooler, that is what i was looking for, so i brought it!

This morning i picked up my new graphics and was fairly surprised when i opened it! Inside was a Palit gtx 1060 6gb duel fan graphics card! nothing like what i ordered!

But here is the thing! Do i fight with this company to return mine and send me another one *hoping they accidentally got my order wrong* or do i just get over it and put it into my system, both cards output the same power and are pretty much identical apart from the style of cooler? they even cost the same!

One of the main things im considering is the fact that the site has TERRIBLE customer service! I've called the customer service number about 30 times today and no luck, I've emailed and no reply!

I'd be interested to see what you all think!

Thanks for reading!

If it is their "own" brand or value line then the product image might be for "illustrative purposes" and the actual card sold whatever they've managed to get a good deal on.

I've got the Palit dual fan 1070 and no complaints so far.

Sadly it doesn't say anything about brands on the product page! I've read some reviews and it does seem to be a good card :D

What would you do in my situation? *if you dont mind me putting you on the spot*

Depends how much I needed the blower design - I'm too impatient for returning stuff like that aslong as it isn't worse than what I ordered.

Question is, what about warranty? Are you still covered given I'm assuming you don't have proof of purchase of this SPECIFIC card, you just have receipt for one you thought you were getting?

im the same! I cant stand the hassle of returning product!

I was looking at the blower style due to only having 1 exhaust fan in my case, its a "fairly" old prebuilt pc

Im assuming ive got some kind of warranty, ive got proof of purchase but the title of the product is just NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Graphics Card, it doesn't specifically say Palit GTX 1060 blah blah

So i think Rroff is right, its a gtx 1060 6gb that they have got a good deal on at the moment and not the specific card i thought i was buying from the image

Got to be careful, if the item is as described a "NVidia GTX1060" and if the text says for illustrative purposes etc then they have given you the correct product. It just might not have been what you expected it to be...

As long as you can get the proper warranty you're fine.

This being said, I would advice a bit more caution when buying GPUs. "gtx 1060" is not enough information to make an informed decision

Sadly i cant see anything that says illustrative purpose, ive linked below a image of the product page, let me know what you think!

In their T&Cs:

"Images of products on this website are for illustrative purposes only. Your goods may vary slightly from the image shown on the website and will not include any of the pictured accessories, unless stated in the specification of the goods."

The product page doesn't really specify what you are getting other than a 6GB GTX 1060 with reference card specs. So I suspect they are just selling whatever batch of cards they can get a good deal on.

(Though you could argue that a dual fan setup is more than a slight variation from a blower fan setup :O )

A slight variation is not a whole different type of cooler; reference blowers are required for tight SLI configurations for example. If you need a reference blower I'd send it back, otherwise I'd keep it as the reference blowers are usually a lot louder and worse at keeping temps in check (unless you're using a mini-ITX case or something). :)

yeah i have read the t&c's and i can see the section you mean!

I will defiantly be more careful when ordering parts online :D I think i will keep this card, no matter what it will be more powerful then the one i have now!

Thank you for your help

Yeah I don't think the tone of sarcasm quite came over on my last line - if you wanted a blower for a specific reason plenty of justification for returning it.

I dunno what its like on the 1060 but on my 1070 the Palit dual fan runs quiet and keeps temperatures easily in check - it does use a lot of aluminium for the heatsink and run of the mill plastics - which is a bit of a step down from most of my previous cards that have used plenty of copper and metal casing - but it isn't like I spend all day stroking my graphics card hah.
