Company sent me the wrong GPU - Should i keep it?

A slight variation is not a whole different type of cooler; reference blowers are required for tight SLI configurations for example. If you need a reference blower I'd send it back, otherwise I'd keep it as the reference blowers are usually a lot louder and worse at keeping temps in check (unless you're using a mini-ITX case or something). :)

The 1060 with the reference cooler is actually very cool, quiet and quite effective at removing the heat from the case. I've got one myself and I think I recommended it to the OP in another thread for that reason.

Aka the Founders Edition.

Which can't be purchased anymore, but there are GTX1060 cards available that use the reference style cooler.

As for the actual card, it actually costs around the same over on the main site (it's actually a pound cheaper) although there are cards with reference style coolers for the same price.

They didn't do a founder edition 1060.

Ask yourself if you are happy to keep the card they sent you, if you think it is a better card than you expected then you will be more than happy to keep it and if you still need a fan to exhaust some case air then spend a couple of quid on one.

happy new year every one.

I'm defiantly going to look into buying 1 or 2 more fans! But im happy to say im keeping the card and have already installed it into my system :D compared to my previous card this blows it out of the water!

Thanks everyone for the help and advice!

Happy new year!

OCUK used to do something similiar. When you ordered an OCUK GTX 770 as an example the one that turned up was an Inno GTX 770.

I'm sure they did? Defiantly advertised one on GeForce!
Nvidia most definitely do make a founders 1060.

You're right, they did advertise it as a founders edition, I was under the impression they didn't because it was a cheaper looking version with black plastic bits on the shroud. It certainly didn't look as premium quality as the one used on the 1070 and 1080. But, they tend to get away with doing stuff like that. I imagine they were testing the water to see if anyone questioned the use of the name with a lower quality shroud and we'll find that the 1100 series founders edition cards will be no better than the 900 series reference coolers, A different look yes but that's it.

The OP paid £242 for what is a £249 card on the main site...

Just how is that paying over the odds?

I guess he means you can get a 1060 6GB and that 1060 6GB a little cheaper elsewhere than where the OP bought - but I'd hardly say its paying over the odds.
