Hi all, just got a Compaq 311c (1010-SA) from MM and am loving it except I can't get the webcam to work whatsoever!
It doesn't even show up in device manager so I can't update the driver or anything. I have just installed a fresh copy of XP to see if that makes the webcam appear in device manager - it doesn't :(

Any ideas greatly appreciated as I'm starting to think it's probably a hardware fault but am at my wit's end! I normally wouldn't be that fussed but the whole point of buying this laptop was so I could use Skype while I am travelling Asia over the next few months.

EDIT - I've downgraded and upgraded the BIOS several times to see if that would kick it in but sadly it doesn't

Are there any options in the bios to enable/disable the webcam?

Do the USB ports work on the laptop?

If you look around the outside edge of the screen, there should be screw covers, does it look like these have been removed in the past? It is possible the screen has been changed at some point and someone has forgot to plug the webcam back in.
