Right this one has me very confused.
A friend has given me an old PC, hoping that I can fix it so that he can give it to his sister for her birthday. No initially there was no display but it seemed like the computer was posting because I could hear the hard drive working away, asif it was loading windows.
So i went ahead and bought a cheap AGP card and installed it. Low and behold, the computer booted and there was display, so I thought the problem was solved but it seems I celebrated to soon.
The computer locked up within 30 seconds of being in windows. It needed formatting so yet again I felt i had the solution to the problem. So i formatted the computer, everything went fine. Straight into windows, installed some updates and service packs and turned it off.
Now today, ive gone to boot it up again but no joy. I can get it to boot into windows if im persistent but the lock-up is back, sometimes it'll lock on the windows loading screen and sometimes in windows itself.
I just cant work out what's going on with this thing !
