ok, I've done something not sure what, so here goes...
I upgraded the ram from 2 X 256 @ 266 to 1 X 1024 @ 333
I also 'tried' upgrading the CPU from 2.4ghz mobile P4 to 3.06GHz mobile P4 but it seems it doesn't like it so the original got put back...
since then, when the laptop been powerd by mains it over heats and turns off even in the boot menu. The fan goes completely nuts but it doesn't seem to be throwing out a lot of heat...
When powerd by batery, the fan is screaming but it will boot.
Now, I'm guessing that i've not seated the heat sink right (thermal compound has been replaced) but the 'block' does get warm but the heat pipes are cold... I've tried re-seating the heat sink god knows how many times with no effect...
What does anyone else think?
