Decided to upgrade GPU (radeon 4650). Need to get compatible PSU for my Compaq Presario.
Current PSU is 300 watt Bestec Model ATX-300-12Z (PS2 standard ATX).
further specs see www.power-on.com/atx12vhp300bt.html#spec

Ive read a lot of conflicting reports regarding upgrading Compaq PSUs.
Ive been looking at the Antec Basiq 500 Watt PSU and Antec EarthWatts 500W PSU.
I believe these will fit though will they work?
Any advice would be helpful as totally lost.

Current system:

Current system (3 years old)
compaq presario SR1839.
Microsoft windows XP (home edition 2002) SP 3.
Processor intel pentium D 930 ( D CPU 3.00ghz)
Mobo ASUStek( chipset i945P)
Graphics interface PCI-express.
Memory 3gb DDR2
HD 270gb
GPU Radeon x1300/x1550

Thanks

simon

what about that corsair VX450 i spec'ed you in your other thread?

i dont think the 4650s need a power connector as they get all their power from the pci-e slot

Unless looking at to many PSUs has melted my brain the Corsairs fan would be facing inside my compaq, current PSU blasts directly out the back where you put the power cable. Would it matter that the corsairs fan blows back into, i guess the other fan at the back would extract it.....

Cheers, thats sealed it for me will go for the corsair VX450.
What happened to the days of my youth when my school had 1 bbc micro kept in a still shuttered box with a selection of smile games.
thanks for all your help,
