Happy New Year all,

I'm curious to know if anyone has bought suits from both, I doubt a 34Short from M&S is exactly the same as one from Next but if anyone could confirm if they sizes are generally bigger/tighter, etc I'd really appreciate it.

I'm not around so can't exactly walk into a store (not that expect anyone to on my behalf).

M&S sizes are generally bigger, well, not bigger but looser fitting. I find Next suits to feel more tailored and hug your body in the right places to not look like it's a shade too loose.

Best option? Go try some on :) (when you can of course!).

Go and try yourself. But ultimately a 34 Short should be exactly the same no matter where you get it. (It won't be, but it should..)

The difference will be the cut, as has been mentioned. Some will be slim fit etc...

you cant buy a suit online unless you want the hassle of sending it back, all manufacturers have slightly different sizes, for example in Paul Smith im one size bigger than Hugo Boss suits.

If you have a BOSS factory outlet nearby when you are here then they currently have a big sale on, depending on your budget you could pick up a nicely cut suit for £300 as well. Would be something a bit more special depending on the occasion I guess :)

M&S Do a more tailored range, but they tend to be in more lairy 'estate agent' styles. Regardless they do cheap alterations pretty quick to get perfect fit which is absolutely necessary imo. Next suits tend to have incredibly narrow legs, I guess people don't exercise anymore.

From my experience in the sales, 3 34R jackets in M&S fitted completely differently so there is little chance sizes will be consistent between brands. You have to try them.
