Has anyone had the chance to compare the following monitors?

Acer B6 B326HULbmiidphz
BenQ BL3200PT
Samsung S32D850T

Until recently I wanted to buy the BenQ because I didn't even know that the other two existed. Unfortunately I can't find detailed tests for the Acer and the Samsung.

Hi, they all use the same panel. The Acer has significantly more overshoot/ghosting than the BenQ/Samsung. The Samsung possibly uses PWM to control brightness below a certain % (likely 30) whereas the BenQ definitely doesn't.

All 3 suffer from vertical banding which may or may not put you off. I own the BenQ and the new revision post July has significantly less banding than the earlier versions however it is still noticeable under motion.

If you're interest in gaming then the BenQ will be your best bet. Otherwise which ever is cheapest as there won't be massive differences in normal usage.

How bad or visible is this banding...? I have seen it noted before but not seen any captured images or videos to give me a clue on how problematic it could be..?

Overall are you happy with the Benq...?

You can see some pictures from the Samsung with the banding issue here.

Thanks for that :)

Noted the vertical banding on the grey scale image. Not sure, apart from seeing what is shown on that test screen, how much of an issue it is in every day use or do you really have to hunt to find it...?

Perhaps some can be worse than others...?

Having just returned my second AOC monitor for severe back light bleed I can understand how it can be worse.

Those pictures of the Samsung look very similar to what I see on mine. It's not really visible unless you keep looking out for it.

I can only really recommend that you buy one from a retailer that offers hassle free returns such as the rainforest so that you can try it out for yourself.

I think the banding is easier to live with than IPS glow and backlight bleed that seems to plague every other 1440p monitor.

I know what you mean, I will be on my third monitor (being delivered tomorrow) due to really excessive BLB...

1st one...

2nd....

thankfully dealing with a good etailer has meant that they were contacted Saturday night and came to collect and drop off the second on Monday and collect that one for return this morning. A BenQ is being delivered tomorrow.

I'll see how the BenQ works out for glow / BLB.

The BL3200 is very good in that respect. Mine has a faint touch of bleed in the lower left corner, but it is quite faint and not visible at all except on a completely black screen with the lights turned down.

Thanks for posting that :)

I await the imminent delivery of my BenQ 27" IPS but if it is anything like what I have posted then the BenQ BL3200PT with the AMVA panel will have to be strongly considered.
It would seem that I have little choice, although my DGM 27" was perfect, in terms of BLB / Glow.
