Just been running some quotes on an Almera Gti that I was looking to buy from Kieran on here.

I did have my dad and my grandad named as they brought it down but I found out my grandad has an SP30 so took him off and that my dad informing his insurance of a non fault accident means it puts my quotes up now :(

So I added my auntie and she brought it back into line and got a quote of ~£900. That's fair game for my area, experience and the car.

I phoned chris knott who said it was in the thousands...and then sky who should discount due to AOC. Sky at least came back with £1050 with a mod friendly insurer.

I'm now getting quotes of £2k+ on confused using the same details.

Does calling insurers have some sort retarded effect on what people will quote or something?

Similarly I've noticed all my quotes have spiked lately, I was averaging 600ish over a few insurers I quoted, tried them the other day and they're all 1k+

Maybe it's the time of year?

Why do you think its called confused?

In other news I'm still getting quoted 750 for a 5L v12 BMW 850.

Aye I guess that's true. I'm 'confused' as to why admiral aren't showing up on confused but when I go direct I get normal prices.

Be better getting an 840ci at least then you won't have to be declared bankrupt.

My Insurance has doubled this month, ridiculous, I guess the whole weather and darker days thing has made the insurance companies up the premium.

On a slightly related note. My insurance was due last month, renewal quote from eCar(who have consistently been the cheapest for 3 years) was £670.

Ran a gocompare comparison and got a quote from them(eCar, still the cheapest on the list) for £500. Rang them up and asked what the script was, apparently because the gocompare quote was for 'new business' it turns up cheaper?!? Kicked up a fuss and got the £500 policy, they'll try anything for an extra buck these days.

It's their defence against people "massaging" the details to get their price down.

If you use those sites use the house number next door, etc, so when you come to enter your accurate details the system doesn't flag you up.

That's been going on since the dawn of time, and is hardly exclusive to the car insurance industry either.
