Hi guys - If you had a compass in a mobile phone (along with sat nav capabilities) - would you think you would find it useful - Any ideas of situations where you think you could use it .

cheers

the magnet in the ear piece would probably affect the accuracy, I have a tiny compass on my keyring which I used one for helping me align my satellite dish.

you can already get them, its just a java program that needs to know where you live and you point it at the sun (assuming you know roughly where the sun is).

You can do the very same with an analogue watch, so it's hardly a hi-tech solution.

Compass' aren't particulary this century though are they?
What i mean is for the very few times most people will need one on a phone that software is fine. Where-as if you really need a compass (integrated into a phone ) odds are you probably already own one and they're not huge.

I had it on that shockproof nokia..

As i am out on boats a lot, especially around islands, you need to know compass headings and landmarks to navigate around rocks etc.. always useful
