just wondering if this intel motherboard would be compatable with this cpu.

the core 2 extreme processors use the 775 socket, that motherboard is 1366

why going for old tech? get sandy bridge z68 mobo and dependent on use(gaming, encoding etc) get the i2500k(gaming) or i2600k(encoding and other tasks that make use of hyperthreading).

what's the budget?
a sb system will be faster than the old i7 system unless you're going for say a 990x which is £800 and that's before motherboard and RAM.
