Graphics Card compatibility with Asus A8V Deluxe

CPU Type AMD Athlon 64, 2200 MHz (11 x 200) 3500+

Motherboard Name Asus A8V Deluxe (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)

Motherboard Chipset VIA K8T800Pro, AMD Hammer


Will a GeForce 7950GX2 work on this Motherboard?

is PCI & PCI-E different slots altogether? because i have 5 PCI slots? - if not will the 7900GTX work then?
 
Nope, all the top end are PCI-E with the exception of a few models, but its gonna cost you, you'd be better off saving for an upgrade to at least PCI-E.
 
Ok, but will a 7900GTX work and will it run to its full potential on my system?

2 GB Mem (4x512)

Depends on what mobo you have. Any PCI-E video card will work to its full potential if you've got a PCI-E mobo. If you have a PCI-E mobo and a PCI or APG video card it won't fit on the board at all.
 
The A8V Deluxe DOES NOT have PCI-Express (see here) slots just plain old PCI (& AGP slot for graphics). Therefore no PCI-E card will work on it!

Get, the excellent Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 (which I eventually got). That has both AGP & PCI-E slots :D
