Compatibility question

I think the answer is yes, but just to check.

Is this Mobo (with latest firmware, I already own this) - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-mag-b550-tomahawk-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-359-ms.html

The easy answer is if the cpu is AM4 then yes as your board is a b550 AM4 board. Just check the QVL list for when the cpu was supported in bios and see if your bios is correct or newer thant he one listed.

If it helps, there's no AM4 5000 CPU that'll not run in the Tomahawk. That's a decent board, not some cheapo model without heatsinks.

yes it will be compatible

the question is whether the included bios is recent enough to run the chip without updating the bios beforehand
the odds are, if you bought the motherboard new, and fairly recently, then the included bios should support the 5700x3d out of the box

that's the base clock, i'd ignore
the 5700x3d will run at full speeds unless you dick around with the bios and break a setting

I think they include that info just to be 100% sure that the compatibility list is referring to the right CPU, but there's only one variant of the 5700X3D so the info is meaningless.

No you would need a whole new setup inc ram. I think @mickyflinn is asking why not just do a whole upgrade rather that just updating a dead platform??

Sorry I meant as a package mobo +CPU+memory but if you already have the motherboard then it makes sense but buying new it mite be worth the stretch.
