Was going to buy OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 Dual Channel (OCZ2G10664GK) @ £39.99 but I see it's now not available. It doesn't say out of stock, so does that mean it's gone forever? Also, looking at the gigabyte list of compatible memory for the motherboard I'm getting, the OCZ isn't listed, albeit they did say they can't verify all memory models. Would OCZ OCZ2G10664GK work with Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 AMD 770 (Socket AM3/AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2, otherwise, can you recommend me 2 x 2GB DDR2 8500 that will around the same price? Thanks.

If the memory listed isn't on the QVL then it just means that it not been tested on these boards therefore they can't guarantee those not listed.. which is fair enough.. However, providing they are of the same type (which they are i.e. DDR2) then it should be fine.

Ok, thanks. In that case, I'll wait and see if OCuk bring back the OCZ Gold Edition 4GB. I can assume from what you said that, even unverifed from the QVL, that any other DDR2 sticks will fit and should work. Or do you have a particular 1066/8500 PC2 model in mind that OC sells that you'd recommend me?

edit: oops, just saw your links, let me peruse them.

These look ok for the money :

Ah, well, kingston is a good name isn't it and I don't know anything about patriot. I would imagine they'd both perform about the same then?

Both have slightly tighter timings... Personally, I'd go for the Pariot. Don't worry about compatability.. DDR2 is just DDR2, the system will adjust your settings if left on Auto. Are you overclocking?

Hm, well, I might overclock, but somehow doubt it. I'll be getting a phenom II x2 550 which is stock 3.1GHz so I may never need to. My technical knowledge on how to overclock is limited anyway, plus it means getting all sorts of super cooling.
