We have a Canon MG6150 multifunction printer - great piece of kit and the ink does last a long time. It's just not cheap when a lot of the colours all start going at the same time.
Buying a complete set of six inks is not cheap.
Anyone here use compatible ink? Is one particular make of compatible nay better than the rest?

Cheers.

I'm also interested to see if anyone has any opinions on this. Just bought myself a Canon MG5250 and will be looking for replacement compatibles when the inks start to run out.

Hi, l have been using compatibles for a good few years now on epson printers and my 3 year old canon ip4300 and never had any problems. But must say the canon is more efficient with ink than the epsons and prints far better to, l can't remenber the last time l cleaned the heads l do a lot of printing but still have gaps of 2/3 weeks where l don't print.

Price wise always pays to shop round but l get 5 sets of inks thats 1 small black+1 large black/1xcyan/1xyellow/1xmagenta for £15, beats paying £30 to £6o for 1 canon set of inks.

Print wise most people can't tell the difference betweeen them, still have photos that are still in cood condition over 3 years old, black print is good also, yes some brands are better than others. :)

See if your printer can be fitted with a CIS i have one in stalled on my epson, you can buy different grade inks so it always works out cheaper than buying there own branded products.

Thanks. I've just switched from an Epson as it gave too many 'incompatible ink' messages when the cartridges in question had been used without a problem. I tried the various fixes for this but never had any joy. They were cheap inks from ebay though. I've heard that Canon accepts compatibles more readily.

Tried using that on a Canon that I had a few years ago. Worked well to start with then it dried up after going away for a week. After that I could never get it going properly for more than a couple of days. I found it quite messy too! Great when it worked though.
