Hi there
Im usually part of the photography forum but have ventured into this memory forum for some good advice.
I am building new kit and already have purchased the i7980 (not X) and G1 Sniper v1 and have a general question on compatible memory.
The Intel website (http://ark.intel.com/products/58664...ocessor-(12M-Cache-3_33-GHz-4_8-GTs-Intel-QPI)) specifies specifically memory type to be DDR3 - 1066.
The Gigabyte website specified qualified vendors to cover all memory from 2300 down to 1066.
Then the Corsair website gives me numerous options for the Sniper board that done even include 1066 memory type. So does the Kingston site.
Why does Intel specify 1066 - does it really matter in terms of performance or validation of warranty if i go for 1600 or 2000? Do I have to stick with 1066? What will happen if i use memory other than 1066 in my i7980 and Sniper board?
Many thanks in anticipation.
