At last AMD have competition in the desktop market :)

Such good news for all - if I rewind say 3 months, a X2 4800 939 CPU would have cost me £450 or even more, Ive just purchased mine for a mere £217 from OCUK.

I hope this competition lasts for many years - its simply so good to push high priced CPU's down to real world prices.

I look forward to seeing how AMD will respond in the next few months, apart from dropping prices.
 
yeah i found an old quote today when the X2 3800 cost £246 and it wasnt that long ago...

is it just my imagination or have the prices of X2 4400s droped about £100 in price in the last week :confused:
 
All we need now is the same thing to happen in the GPU market and our wives/girlfriends will have to find something else to moan about. :eek:

Yes, Giboo made a thread about the 4400 and 4800 (1mbit cache per core) detailing how AMD had given them a nice price to clear their stock.

it's times like this i'm glad i'm a single male aged 18 to 25 who doesnt smoke, drink regualy, go 'clubbing' and who has a resonably well paying job.

Aint the low prices great!! :D

Finaly got rid of my last P4 machine and replaced it with an uber cheap A64 and stuck it on my old Asrock mobo which was lying around.

Tis a good time to upgrade on socket 939. :D

Think I'll turn the old P4 into a nice keyring.
Pass me the drill. :p

i found a couple of old... ok... ancient CPUs i was going to turn into a key ring but they're so old now i think i'll keep them and take them to the antiques roadshow next year.. one of them is an AMD K5 and the other an IBM cyrix o_O' that predates pentiums o_o

i also have a large sylection of about 8 mobos i'm going to mount on my wall possible in a single display of modernt art most of them socket 7
