As the title are there any upcoming competitors for the rog swift? I would love high refresh rate at 1440p but im using amd so no gsync and not a fan of its stupid price.
I was so close to buying the swift till i heard the development of the ips 144 panels from AUO.Now i will wait a little longer for that extra special panel.

Also wouldn't mind an alternative 1440p panel that does 120Hz - not bothered by 144 or even gsync that much. If the swift drops below £600 I'd probably nab one though as at that point I'd no longer feel like I was paying a premium for the ROG branding.
it didn't want to work at 144Hz on my AMD card and seemed quite "fussy" about running at certain res/refresh rates. I wouldn't buy the Swift if you're planning on using it on an AMD card though as you lose two of the biggest selling points - G-sync and ULMB (motion blur reduction mode)
I did not know that. I thought Gsync was the only thing AMD users would lose out on. I say 'only', Gsync is well worth a bump in cost.
Definitely wouldn't buy a swift then unless you already had Nvidia or were planning to.
At this moment there is no competitor to the Asus Rog Swift, but I'm sure there will be soonish.
I won't be changing mine until a 3440 x 1440 IPS or VA, 120hz with Gsync screen comes out though. Think that might be a while.
It's kind of a side feature of gsync, ulmb is part of gsync thus gsync hardware (nvidia card) is required to enable it. The only exception to this rule is the Acer 4k as its max refresh is 60hz, ulmb is 85hz and up so no ulmb on that monitor despite being gsync
Ulmb is a 3Dvision offshoot (originally people found a way to hack lightboost monitors to pulse the backlight for the same purpose) so it is generally only available on monitors that also support 3d/lightboost
