After just removing 10+ competitors from the first page, and countless others over the past few days enough is enough. Post competitors and you will no longer get a edit, you will get a suspension.

In the rules on these forums this part is made very clear:-

OcUK are happy to provide the resources of these forums to responsible individuals without charge. They cost a substantial amount of money to maintain and use considerable amounts of bandwith which is paid for exclusively by OcUK. As you know OcUK are in the computer hardware business and therefore the promotion of OcUK's competitors is forbidden. Examples of promotion are :-
Posting links to competitors websites
Posting links to reviews that promote competitors
Quoting the names or contact details of competitors
Offering to provide the names or contact details of competitors
Hinting about product availability at competitors and their pricing
Using the forums to notify a member of intent or actual supply of names or contact details of competitors
Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in signatures
Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in profile
Posting links to or the mentioning of auction sites
Disguising attempts to do any of the above

Mentioning competitors in gaming is no different to hardware, and it is happening more and more each day especially in PC Games.

This stops now, no excuses.

If you break the rules you could end up on a nice little holiday from the forums.

Firstly, sorry for replying so late.

As was explained earlier in the thread, I do have a life and have been busy this evening and throughout the day so have not been at my PC to reply, so will do now.

Competitors are not allowed, end of.

You can mention Tesco's and link to a cabbage online, but mentioning them in the sense of PC hardware is not ok.

Some other big stores you can not mention anything from, due to them selling a SIGNIFICANT amount of hardware as their product line.

It is a simple rule, been here since the forums opened.

The thread was not a debate, it was posted as a warning so when I issue suspensions to people they can not turn around a say they did not have a warning.

Accept the rules, or leave the forums. It really is that simple, they are not the hardest set to abide by, no OcUK competitors or swearing.

Thats about it as long as your friendly.... complicated.

They are allowed if they don't ship to the UK, ie Newegg.

Correct.

I really do not see what some of your problems are, it is SIMPLE to understand.

If I came into your house, started smoking in it when you specifically had it as a house rule not to, you would not be pleased.

It is the same thing.

Every thread to wake people up to competitors ends up this way, extremely childish behaviour for people who have agreed to these terms when they made the forum account.

You do not have to exclusively buy from OcUK, nobody forces you. If you are on OcUK's forums however you will not send people to the competition.

Is it really that hard?

Some people really need to read my top post, only competitors are not allowed.

If a PC shop only shipped to one street in the Gambia it is not a competitor, link to it all you like.

If it ships to the UK aswell, no.

That is the warning, and it has been acted upon.

Nah, someone would probably post a link to somewhere cheaper :p

Whilst I'm posting can I check that mentioning ebay is ok as long as it's not 'buy this computer part from ebay'

fini

Within reason yes.

You can link to anything that OcUK does not sell, but the auction also has to be legal.

If a company primarily sells hardware, or sells a lot of it in comparrisson to its other product ranges then you can not link to them at all.

If a company sold 1million games, but had a mid range graphics card for sale they would not be a competitor, but you can not link to the graphics card or mention you can get it from that company.

Easiest way to keep to the rules is if OcUK sells it, the product does not exist anywhere else. That has placed me well within the rules for years.

I am closing this now, enough people have read it and hopefully it will have sunk in that breaking the rules is not on.

It has had a positive effect straight away so it was worth posting.
