First of all i would like to apologise for this post, this is probably a type of post you get a lot and you are probably getting sick of them.

Im looking to build my first PC, ive done a little background research but i think i may be a little too old and stupid to understand everything. Ive worked out what i want and the cost, but im not sure if all the bits im getting will work together. Could some kind person tell me if the following bits and pieces will work together, and if ive got something wrong tell me what to replace it with.

604708 AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 90nm 1MB L2 (939 Pin) - Retail with Fan (********.co.uk) £148.05

Asus A8N SLI SE PCI-E (Socket 939) Motherboard £74.88 (********.co.uk)

Corsair ValueSelect 1GB DDR2 (2x512MB) PC4200 Dual Channel Kit £120.28 (2x60.14)

TekValue nVidia GeForce 7900GT 256MB DDR3 Dual DVI/TV Out (PCI-E) – Retail £190.35

Sapphire Black Deluxe Midi Tower Case with 460w PSU £29.32

Also im looking to build this pc to play games on, will this set up allow me to play the current games at decent settings? And if i can get any of the bits cheaper does anyone know where?

Thank you in advance for your help

Thanks semi-pro, for the advice and the warm welcome.

I think your right that some of the parts and equivilents are cheaper on overclockers.co.uk.

I forgot to mention that i have a HDD, DVD Drive and DVD re-rewriter from my old pc, there in good nick so the plan was to slap them into the new pc.

Couple of further questions, i might be able to strech my budget a bit further and get a 3800+ duel core. Is it worth the extra money to get this chip, or am i still cool with the 3700+ non-duel core.

Also what kind of performence could i expect on say Battlefield 2 for instance? Would it be good or average?
