I've been saving for my first motorbike for a while and have been set on a used Yamaha YBR 125. I still need to do a CBT.

For the gear I came across sportsbikeshop.co.uk which is useful because there are customer reviews on the products. I was wondering if I could get some advice on which would be the best gear or if you can improve on what I have selected.

AGV K3 Rossi Gothic - £129.99

Weise Laguna Jacket - Gun - £89.99

Richa Atlantic Leather Glove - £29.99

RST Alpha II Jeans - £59.99

Spada Glide WP Boots - £44.99

Total: £354.99

Am I spending too much/little on this gear? Thanks.

The most important thing is to make sure you get a helmet that is right for you. Make sure it fits properly by being for your head shape and the right size. The only way to do that is go to a shop and try some one.

The jacket looks fine, I have a couple of Weise jackets myself, but as for the boots, I prefer longer ones that offer some shin protection as well but that'sw just my choice.

Helmet, try some on and get one that's right for you. Hopefully you'll never need it's protection but if it doesn't fir correctly then the protection it does offer can be reduced or negated completely.

AGV K3 Rossi Gothic - £129.99 - Good lid, little bit noisy apparently. I tried one on and really liked it but I can't emphasise enough that you have to try lids on, don't just buy over the internet

Weise Laguna Jacket - Gun - £89.99 - Decent jacket, I've had a Weise textile jacket for 2 years and it's still pristine.

Richa Atlantic Leather Glove - £29.99 - Don't know I'm afraid, but again I suggest you go to a shop and try gloves on

RST Alpha II Jeans - £59.99 - Should be ok but obviously not as protective as leather. I ride with Draggin jeans most days as I'm just commuting at 30mph although if I go for a blast after work I put my leathers on.

Spada Glide WP Boots - £44.99 - No idea I'm afraid.

Basically I'd suggest going to a shop and try all this stuff on, especially the helmet and gloves.

Third for "try the helmets on". - My wife and I both bought HJC helmets in the end, but even then we got different models.

As others have said you have no choice but to try helmets on, even the same size from same manufacture, but different helmet model can fit totally different.

Even the same helmet can be different. I've got a Shark S900 which fits perfectly, even better than my Schuberth however I was in Fowlers the other day and tried on the new version of the S900 and it was horrible, didn't fit at all. I don't know what they've done but it felt terrible despite being same make and model.
