So I finally got my first build up and running (a lot of you guys have probably helped me at some point here) and itd been working fine without gaming for hours.

Downloaded Sleeping Dogs to play and thought lets see what this 7850 can do, so turned graphics to extreme. It played through some **** scenes and some sorta mini-gameplay fine, but upon the game actually started (ie giving you character control) the system crashed and powered off completely

Now it wont even power on. Ive went inside it to check all the power connections are fine and replugged to mains power ect but nothing happens when I press the power button. One thing i'm thinking about now is the fuse in the plug could be broken, but not sure how likely that is. I may try a different power connector but I dont think that'll work tbh - i doubt the power cord is broke.

Hopefully someone can get back to me as im absolutely stumped, so gutted aswel as it was my first bloody game...

Yes check the fuse. You can test the PSU with the paperclip test (google it). Basically you use a paperclip to short the green and black wires in the 24 pin block. Once you flick the on button at the back of the PSU it will power on without being connected to the mobo.

If the PSU doesnt power up with the paperclip test then the PSU is duff

I'm using a 500W power and cooling psu btw with a 3750k and 7850gpu.

I've tried swapping power cables and that hasnt worked. Also replugged the 24 pin cable with no luck. I'll find out how to go about clearing CMOS before trying the paperclip test, although i feel neither will work:(.

Can a PSU just decide to be 'duff' when you get to a more demanding part of a game as it did with mine? I'd imagine if it was duff your rig wouldnt run at all? then again saying that mines doesnt now...

WIth the power off on the PSU, just pop the battery out of the mobo for a minute or so and replace. That will reset the BIOS to defaults
