Complete system for £1500

Hello!

Ive been lurking on this site for a long time now. 6 years ago i moved into a flat and due to lack of space ive had to make do with a dell inspiron N5010 laptop (ouch). At the time I had to leave my previous rig behind with my brother (Overclocked Intel 940 and Nvidia 275) This led to me viewing this site regularly with jealousy and struggling to keep up with how things are moving on throughout the years.

All that could be about to change. Ive exchanged contracts today on a house and my mrs is allowing me to use the spare room as an office. This means desktop time again!

I will have about £1500 to spend in total but will need everything to complete a system. I also will need the system built for me so the cost of that may need to be taken into consideration.
I will be using it for casual gaming and all manner of day to day tasks.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to get me started that would be fantastic. Many thanks in advance

Hi and welcome.

OcUK can build a PC if non of the off the shelf systems they list suit you, but the fee for this can start from£60 rising up depending on the man hours put into it.

So eventually it could exceed an of the shelf listed PC.

Did you have a preference for small or big cases?

You need a monitor, OS, keyboard, mouse, speakers?

I will require a monitor, operating system, keyboard and mouse. Dont worry about the speakers as they can come at a later date.

I did have a look at the off the shelf systems and played around with the configurator but i have to be honest i didnt really know what i was looking at. Im out of the loop in relation to graphics cards and CPU's completely so not sure if the parts i was looking at are suitable!

Were you doing video editing and lots of photo editing or is it mainly games and youtube+shopping and excel/word.

No video or photo editing except family stuff. Nothing intensive.

It will mainly be gaming, streaming, downloading and using media. A fun machine more than a work one!

I love that case. I know most games are avilable on steam now however say if i needed to use a cd/DVD. Are USB drives easy and reliable to use?

Yes USB dvd drives are fine, the board even supports boot from USB should you ever need it.
